Spring 2024: Real Facebook Oversight Board is Hiring Interns!
Applications are due by February 5, 2024.
Are you a student interested in Facebook accountability? The Real Facebook Oversight Board (RFOB) is hiring interns for Spring 2024! RFOB is a group of prominent global experts, journalists, and academics, some of whom are the company’s fiercest critics, looking to hold Facebook to account (NBC). Our flagship research, the Facebook Receipts, is designed to expose Facebook’s activity in Washington D.C. and around the globe as it attempts to influence legislation and regulation. The goal is to pull back the curtain on Facebook’s influence operations that it tries to conceal from public view. Interns will work specifically on this project.
We are looking for students with an interest and skills in:
- Investigative Journalism
- Corporate Research
- Journalistic Writing
- Facebook Receipts (of course!)
Tasks include deep-dive research to assist in the creation of data visualizations exposing Facebook’s lobbying and policy practices to stifle regulation, research, legislation, etc. Individuals with an interest and/or experience in investigative journalism will be considered. While not necessary for the position, please be sure to specify any coding language or web design experience.
This position is remote. Our team is based around the world and we meet virtually. You will work a maximum of 10 hours per week unless discussed otherwise. Hourly rates are $17 (USD) per hour. There may be weeks where you work less than others. You must be an undergraduate who has completed at least one year of university. Students can be based anywhere in the world.
We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
If you think you fit the description, please send a resume and cover letter to info@the-citizens.com with “RFOB Internship — [Your Name]” as the subject line.
